Vocational Training Course: “Elderly Caregiver” – GERIATRICS

• Program Duration: The program consists of 1,000 hours, including 460 hours of professional practical training, which takes place in nursing homes, hospitals, and other social care institutions with which we have cooperation agreements. The remaining 540 hours consist of theoretical instruction, divided into modules according to the course curriculum.
• Course Fee: The course fee is €3,500, and the program begins in September.

Vocational Training Program for Elderly Caregivers (Geriatrics)

1. Introduction to the Elderly Care Profession

Introduction to the profession of elderly caregiving, including the caregiver’s role and professional responsibilities. Study of the aging process and the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults. Professional ethics, communication with elderly individuals and their families, and standards of care based on contemporary practices.

2. Psychosocial Care for Older Adults

Understanding the psychological and social changes associated with aging. Effective communication techniques, emotional support, encouragement of social and recreational activities, and management of loneliness, depression, and other situations that may affect the well-being of older adults.

3. Personal Care and Medication Administration

Providing assistance with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, nutrition, dressing, and mobility. Introduction to basic procedures for administering medication according to the instructions of healthcare professionals, monitoring the condition of elderly individuals, and reporting significant changes.

4. Hygiene, Safe Mobility, Protection of Rights, and Prevention of Abuse

Application of personal and environmental hygiene standards. Techniques for the safe positioning and transfer of elderly individuals to prevent injuries and health complications. Understanding the rights of older adults, protecting their dignity, and identifying and preventing different forms of abuse and neglect. Introduction to application procedures and professional documentation.

5. Home Care, Foreign-Language Communication, and Digital Skills

Organizing and providing care for elderly individuals in home and community settings. Basic professional communication in a foreign language for workplace situations and collaboration with families or international institutions. Use of digital tools for information management, service documentation, activity planning, and professional communication.

6. Professional Practice in Elderly Care Institutions

Completion of professional practical training in nursing homes and social care institutions. Application of theoretical knowledge in real-life work situations, participation in daily caregiving activities, communication with multidisciplinary teams, and development of the professional competencies required to provide high-quality services to older adults.

Program Objective

The objective of the program is to prepare qualified professionals capable of providing safe, ethical, and high-quality care to older adults while promoting their well-being, dignity, and independence in both home and institutional settings.
